The Prevalence of Bile Duct Sludge in Patients With Suspected Bile Duct Stones

چکیده
Endoscopic Ultrasonography (EUS) in patients with suspected bile duct stones rules out the presence of up to 65% patients, thus preventing unnecessary Retrograde Cholangiography Sphincterotomy (ERC ES) and its complications majority cases.1 Increased use EUS for ruling has led more cases which sludge is detected. Sludge an ultrasound diagnosis usually described as layered, mobile, low-amplitude echoes without shadowing, representing precipitate solution.

متن کاملLinear endoscopic ultrasound for clinically suspected bile duct stones.
BACKGROUND Radial endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is a less invasive imaging modality used to evaluate common bile duct stones (CBDS) and is as accurate as endoscopic retrograde cholangiography (ERCP). Patients classified as high risk for suspected CBDS were found to have stones in only two-thirds of cases, and an argument could be made for performing EUS in these high-risk patients. There are very...

Occult pancreatobiliary reflux (PBR) in patients with a normal pancreatobiliary junction has been studied by various methods, but the exact etiology, mechanisms, and implications of this reflux have not yet been clarified. The aim of this study was to investigate the degree of PBR and patterns of biliary ductal dilatation in patients with acute calculous cholangitis by endoscopic retrograde cho...
متن کاملOblique Bile Duct Predisposes to the Recurrence of Bile Duct Stones
BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS Bile stones represent a highly prevalent condition and abnormalities of the biliary tree predispose to stone recurrence due to development of biliary stasis. In our study, we assessed the importance of an altered bile duct course for stone formation. PATIENTS AND METHODS 1,307 patients with choledocholithiasis in the absence of any associated hepatobiliary disease wh...
